NBK Egypt, Ahli United bank, Attijariwafa bank, Ebank, and ADIB Egypt, top banks in focusing on customer loans investment
First Bank
According to First Bank list of banks most focused on customer loan investments, as of June last year, NBK-Egypt topped the list, with 58.60% of the bank's assets concentrated in the net customer loan portfolio valued at EGP 67.26 bn, while its total assets reached EGP114.78 bn by the end of June 2023.
The list revealed the investment trends of 23 banks in the Egyptian banking sector, specifically in terms of net customer loans, using the criterion (Net Customer Loans/Total Assets) to indicate the extent of the bank's assets concentration in the customer loan category.
Returning to the list, Ahli United Bank-Egypt secured the second position, with 53.27% of the bank's total assets concentrated in the net customer loans, which amounted to EGP57.17 bn by the end of June 2023, while its total assets reached EGP107.32 bn in the same period.
Attijariwafa came third, with 47.65% of its total assets focused on its net customer loans, valued at EGP 35.97 bn, while its total asset portfolio amounted to EGP75.48 bn by the end of June 2023.
Ebank, claimed the fourth position, with 47.44% of its total assets concentrated in its net customer loans, totaling EGP50.65 bn by the end of June 2023, while its total assets amounted to EGP106.78 bn in the same period.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt (ADIB) secured the fifth position, with 44.62% of its total assets, amounting to EGP 137.64 bn, concentrated in its net customer loan portfolio valued at EGP61.42 bn by the end of June 2023.
Ahli Bank Kuwait-Egypt (ABK-Egypt) occupied the sixth position, with 44.09% of its total assets concentrated in its net customer loan portfolio, valued at EGP37.242 bn, while its total assets amounted to EGP84.472 bn by the end of June 2023.
Qatar National Bank (QNB) Egypt came seventh, with a concentration rate of 43.98%, with the total value of its customer loan portfolio reaching around EGP239 bn, and its total assets amounted to EGP 543.3 bn by the end of June 2023.
saib secured the eighth position on the list, with 41.93% of its total assets concentrated in its customer loan portfolio valued at EGP44.075 bn by the end of June 2023, while its total asset portfolio reached approximately EGP 105.109 bn. Emirates NBD-Egypt followed closely with a concentration rate of 41.66% by the end of the same period.
As for the tenth position on the list, it was claimed by NBE, with its customer loan portfolio, valued at EGP 1.978 tn by the end of June 2023, accounting for 40.37% of its total assets, which amounted to EGP 4.900 tn by the end of the same period.
It's worth noting that all the values and concentration rates mentioned in the analysis above are based on separate financial statements announced by each bank at the end of June 2023.
