National Bank of Egypt hosted TOTAL Energies CAF AFCON African Football Championship at its headquarters in collaboration with Visa, the official sponsor of the tournament.
The event is part of the cup's tour in Egypt for the original edition, with 24 teams competing in the finals in Côte d'Ivoire in January and February. Hesham Okasha, the chairman of the Egyptian National Bank, and other officials attended the event, highlighting the strategic partnership between the bank and Visa in promoting electronic payments and supporting financial inclusion and digital transformation.
The bank aims to provide more benefits to its customers, especially football enthusiasts, and launched a promotional campaign in collaboration with Visa to encourage the use of credit and debit cards for purchases during the AFCON 2023 period. Karim Soos, the CEO of Retail Banking and Branches at the bank, emphasized the continuous efforts to reach all segments of Egyptian society, including football fans, aligning with the country's financial inclusion and digital transformation goals.
The promotional campaign includes opportunities for customers to win prizes, such as attending the opening match and valuable items like TVs and PlayStation 5, by using Visa credit and debit cards issued by the Egyptian National Bank during the campaign.
Visa Egypt's General Manager, Malak El Baba, expressed pride in the strong partnership with the Egyptian National Bank, looking forward to further collaboration in achieving digital transformation and financial inclusion goals in the Egyptian market. The hosting of the event at the bank's headquarters strengthens their partnership, showcasing the bank as the first Egyptian bank to host the AFCON at its main office, with a history of successful collaborations in previous years. Visa is committed to supporting the bank's marketing efforts and promoting digital payment services.
