Egypt’s banking sector market cap rose 3.8% on Monday closing session

The banking sector ends EGX trading session on Monday with an increase in the market cap by 3.8% or EGP 232.8 billion compared to EGP 224 billion at the end of Thursday session.

The market cap of the banking sector reached 26.72% of the total EGX market cap, which is considered the highest percentage among the sectors listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.

The turnover on banking sector amounted to EGP 496.4 million after 16.02 billion shares were exchanged, which represents 1.31% of the total trading volume.

The bench mark EGX30 solely closed with increase of 1.77%, or 14.375 points.

Likewise, the EGX50 EWI added 0.60% to close at 2,423.13 points.

On the other hand, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI as well as EGX100 EWI dipped by 0.58% to 2,653.62 points and by 0.07% to 3,898.14 points, respectively.

However, the turnover reached 1.2 billion securities dealt in cash executed on 93.797 transactions, bringing the total trading volume to EGP 2.901.

As for trading on securities, the Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 116.30 million and EGP 30.20 million, respectively. Meanwhile, the foreign traders were net sellers with EGP 146.51 million.
