HSBC, CIB, and FABMISR Lead Egyptian Banks in the Employee Profitability Index During the First Half of 2025
HSBC tops the list of best-performing banks in the Employee Profitability Index during H1 2025, with an average profit per employee reaching EGP 6.10 million.
CIB secures second place with EGP 3.98 million per employee, while FABMISR ranks third with EGP 3.50 million.
The First Bank ranking of the top-performing banks in the Employee Profitability Index for the first half of 2025 revealed that HSBC Egypt claimed the top spot, achieving an average profit per employee of EGP 6.10 million during the first six months of 2025.
The bank recorded net profits of EGP 9.58 billion, supported by a total of 1,570 employees during the same period.
This index, issued by First Bank, measures the profitability per employee from the CEO and executive management down to operational staff reflecting the overall efficiency and productivity of human capital within each bank.
The calculation is based on the average contribution of each employee to the bank’s net profit, providing a clear indicator of operational performance and human capital utilization.
The ranking covered 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, for which the necessary financial data was available as of the first half of 2025, according to their independently published financial statements.
Returning to the rankings Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked second, with profit per employee reaching EGP 3.98 million, as the bank reported net profits of EGP 33.41 billion and a total of 8,403 employees during the first six months of 2025.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came in third, achieving EGP 3.50 million per employee, supported by net profits of EGP 8.59 billion and a staff count of 2,458 employees in the same period.
Housing and Development Bank «HDB» secured the fourth place, with profit per employee of EGP 2.84 million, as the bank’s net profits reached EGP 8.93 billion, with 3,144 employees in the first half of 2025.
Arab African International Bank «AAIB» ranked fifth, with profit per employee of EGP 2.47 million, driven by net profits of EGP 7.95 billion and 3,225 employees.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» came sixth, with profit per employee of EGP 2.29 million, as net profits stood at EGP 6.04 billion, supported by 2,633 employees.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank-Egypt «ADCB» ranked seventh, posting profit per employee of EGP 2.12 million, with net profits of EGP 2.95 billion and 1,391 employees.
Qatar National Bank-Egypt «QNB-Egypt» secured the eighth position, achieving EGP 2.01 million per employee, with net profits of EGP 14.77 billion and a workforce of 7,334 employees during H1 2025.
National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt» ranked ninth, with profit per employee of EGP 1.97 million, as the bank’s net profits reached EGP 4.13 billion, supported by 2,096 employees.
Bank of Alexandria «Alex Bank» completed the top ten, with profit per employee of EGP 1.83 million, based on net profits of EGP 7.47 billion and 4,084 employees during the first six months of 2025.
