SC Bank, Emirates NBD-Egypt, and EGBANK Lead the Fastest-Growing Private Banks in Retail Banking During H1 2025

EGBANK ranks third with 26.6% growth, while ADIB-Egypt and KFH-Egypt take fourth and fifth places with growth rates of 26.5% and 25.6%, respectively
BANK NXT, saib, and ABK-Egypt rank among the top 10 fastest-growing private banks in retail banking, with growth rates of 24.3%, 23.6%, and 20.9%, respectively
The First Bank list of the fastest-growing private banks in Egypt’s retail banking segment during the first half of 2025 revealed that Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» topped the ranking, with its retail banking portfolio increasing by an average of 34.6%. This growth was driven by a 35.8% rise in personal loans to EGP 7.46 billion by the end of June 2025, alongside a 33.4% increase in individual deposits to EGP 28.18 billion during the same period.
The list, which included 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, showed that all recorded positive growth in their total retail portfolios during H1 2025, according to each bank’s independently published financial statements.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as those in which private ownership exceeds 50%, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector.
The ranking was based on a composite index developed by First Bank to measure the growth of banks’ personal loan and individual deposit portfolios.
Returning to the list, Emirates NBD-Egypt came in second, achieving an average growth of 31.2% in retail banking during H1 2025, supported by a 25.8% increase in personal loans to EGP 21.26 billion, and a 36.6% surge in individual deposits to EGP 62.97 billion.
EGBANK ranked third, with a retail portfolio growth of 26.6%, driven by a 58% rise in personal loans to EGP 25.35 billion, while individual deposits declined by 4.8% to EGP 23.44 billion by the end of June 2025.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» took fourth place, with an average growth rate of 26.5% in retail banking during the first half of 2025. This was attributed to a 28.8% increase in consumer financing to EGP 35.63 billion, along with a 24.1% rise in individual deposits to EGP 107.71 billion.
In fifth place, Kuwait Finance House-Egypt «KFH-Egypt» achieved a 25.6% average growth in total retail operations during H1 2025. Its consumer finance portfolio grew by 31.7% to EGP 6.52 billion, while its individual deposits rose by 19.5% to EGP 30.60 billion.
BANK NXT ranked sixth, posting an average growth of 24.3% in its total retail banking portfolio during the first half of 2025. Its personal loan portfolio rose 28% to EGP 13.21 billion, while its individual deposits increased by 20.5% to EGP 25.85 billion.
saib Bank came seventh, with an average growth of 23.6% in retail banking, supported by a 22.7% increase in personal loans to EGP 24.27 billion, and a 24.4% rise in individual deposits to EGP 49.71 billion.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «ABK-Egypt» ranked eighth, with total retail banking growing by 20.9% in H1 2025, driven by a 16.7% increase in personal loans to EGP 26.72 billion, and a 25.1% increase in individual deposits to EGP 42.46 billion.
Abu Dhabi First Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came ninth, achieving 17.1% growth in total retail banking, with personal loans up 16.4% to EGP 24.21 billion, and individual deposits up 17.9% to EGP 67.49 billion.
Finally, Al Baraka Bank ranked tenth, with average retail banking growth of 16.8%, supported by a 17.8% rise in consumer financing to EGP 14.75 billion, and a 15.8% increase in individual deposits to EGP 72.57 billion by the end of June 2025.
