«Emirates NBD-Egypt», «SC Bank», and «ADCB-Egypt» Lead Private-Sector Banks in Asset Growth During the First 9 Months of 2025
«Emirates NBD-Egypt» tops the list of fastest-growing private-sector banks in assets, followed by «SC Bank»
Arab banking groups maintain dominance, securing 7 positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private banks in assets
«CIB» continues to lead private-sector banks, recording the largest increase in value and the highest asset base
Islamic banks secure only one position among the top 10 fastest-growing private banks in assets
Two banks record a slight decline in assets
The First Bank list of the fastest-growing private-sector banks operating in Egypt in terms of assets during the first 9 months of 2025 revealed that Emirates NBD-Egypt topped the ranking, recording a growth rate of 33.6% during the period. Its asset portfolio reached EGP 212.30 billion at the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 158.93 billion at the end of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» ranked second, posting an asset growth rate of 28.5% during the first 9 months of 2025, with total assets rising to EGP 231.52 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 180.19 billion at the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank-Egypt «ADCB-Egypt» came in third, achieving an asset growth rate of 25.3% during the first 9 months of 2025, as its total assets reached EGP 168.16 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 134.16 billion at the end of 2024.
The ranking highlighted the continued outperformance of Commercial International Bank «CIB» as the largest private-sector bank in terms of both the value of increase and total asset size. CIB’s assets rose to EGP 1.35 trillion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 1.21 trillion at the end of 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 11.6% and an absolute increase of EGP 140.17 billion.
The First Bank list monitored the total asset portfolios of 20 private-sector banks operating within the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available during the first 9 months of 2025. The data showed that 18 banks recorded positive growth rates, while two banks posted slight declines, based on each bank’s independently published financial statements.
It is worth noting that private-sector banks are defined as banks in which private ownership exceeds 50% of total capital, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The data also reflected the strong performance of Arab banking groups operating in Egypt, which dominated 7 positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in assets during the first 9 months of 2025. These banks are Emirates NBD, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Attijariwafa Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and National Bank of Kuwait, while other banks were absent from the top ten rankings.
At the level of Islamic banks, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt appeared as the sole Islamic bank among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in assets, while other Islamic banks were absent from the leading positions.
