«SC Bank», «EGBANK», and «ADIB-Egypt» Lead Private-Sector Banks in Net Interest Income Growth During the First 9 Months of 2025
«SC Bank» topped the list of the fastest-growing private-sector banks in terms of net interest income during the first 9 months of 2025, with «EGBANK» ranking second.
Gulf banking groups captured half of the seats on the list of the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks.
CIB continues to lead private-sector banks in terms of the highest net interest income generated.
Islamic banks secured three seats among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks.
The First Bank list of the fastest-growing private-sector banks operating in Egypt in terms of net interest income during the first 9 months of 2025 revealed that Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» ranked first, recording a growth rate of 58.1%, after achieving net interest income of EGP 6.15 billion during the first 9 months of 2025, compared with EGP 3.89 billion during the same period of 2024.
EGBANK ranked second with a growth rate of 50.8%, after posting net interest income of EGP 6.15 billion during the first 9 months of 2025, compared with EGP 4.08 billion during the same period of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» came in third with a growth rate of 33.3%, after recording net interest income of EGP 14.45 billion during the first 9 months of the current year, compared with EGP 10.84 billion during the same period of 2024.
The ranking confirmed the continued dominance of Commercial International Bank «CIB» as the largest private-sector bank in terms of net interest income, after it recorded EGP 78.36 billion during the first 9 months of 2025, compared with EGP 65.53 billion during the same period of 2024, representing a growth rate of 19.6%.
The First Bank list monitored net interest income for 21 private-sector banks operating within the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available during the first 9 months of 2025. The data showed that 18 banks achieved positive growth rates, while 3 banks recorded notable declines, based on the published standalone financial statements of each bank.
It is worth noting that private-sector banks are defined as banks in which the total private ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The data also showed strong performance by Gulf banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured half of the seats among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in net interest income during the first 9 months of 2025. These banks are: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Ahli Kuwait-Egypt, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Al Baraka Bank, and National Bank of Kuwait, while other groups were absent from the top ten.
At the level of Islamic banks, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Baraka Bank, and Faisal Islamic Bank appeared among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in net interest income.
