«CIB», «ADIB», and Suez Canal Bank Are the Fastest-Growing Private Sector Banks in Shareholders’ Equity during the First 9M - 2025
«CIB» Tops the Ranking of the Fastest-Growing Private Sector Banks in Shareholders’ Equity, Followed by «ADIB»
Gulf banking groups secured half of the seats among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks.
Islamic banks captured only one position on the list.
Listed banks accounted for four seats among the top 10.
The First Bank ranking of the fastest-growing private sector banks operating in Egypt in terms of shareholders’ equity during the first 9 months of 2025 revealed that the Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked first, recording a growth rate of 36.4% during the period, CIB’s shareholders’ equity reached EGP 206.85 billion as of September 2025, compared to EGP 151.69 billion at the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB» came in second place, with shareholders’ equity growing by 36.3% during the first 9 months of 2025, reaching EGP 30.50 billion as of September 2025, compared to EGP 22.37 billion at the end of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank ranked third, posting a growth rate of 34.8% during the first 9 months of 2025, after its shareholders’ equity rose to EGP 18.70 billion as of September 2025, up from EGP 13.87 billion at the end of 2024.
The First Bank ranking monitored the shareholders’ equity portfolios of 21 private sector banks operating within the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available during the first nine months of 2025, The data showed that 20 banks recorded positive growth rates, while one bank experienced a notable decline, based on each bank’s announced standalone financial statements.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as banks in which private capital ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The data also highlighted the strong performance of Gulf banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured half of the seats among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks in shareholders’ equity during the first nine months of 2025. These banks include: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, National Bank of Kuwait, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, and Emirates NBD, while other banking groups were absent from the top ten.
Meanwhile, banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange secured four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks in shareholders’ equity during the first nine months of 2025, namely: Commercial International Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Suez Canal Bank, and EGBANK.
