EGP index Decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.838 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index witnessed a decline against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, as the index fell to 39.84 points at the end of today’s session, compared to 40.00 points at the close of yesterday’s trading on Tuesday.
The decline in the pound index came as a result of its decrease against the US dollar, the euro, the pound sterling, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the Emirati dirham, and the Saudi riyal at the close of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.17 to EGP 47.38 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.07 to EGP 47.28 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the euro also increased from EGP 55.03 to EGP 55.18 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price rose from EGP 54.91 to EGP 55.05 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the pound sterling rose from EGP 63.55 to EGP 63.73 at the close of today’s trading, and the average buying price also increased from EGP 63.39 to EGP 63.58 at the close of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen increased from EGP 29.68 to EGP 29.87 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price rose from EGP 29.62 to EGP 29.81 at the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan rose from EGP 6.76 to EGP 6.79 at the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 6.74 to EGP 6.77 at the end of today’s session.
Likewise, the average selling price of the Emirati dirham increased from EGP 12.84 to EGP 12.90 at the close of today’s trading, while the buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 12.81 to EGP 12.87 at the close of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal rose from EGP 12.57 to EGP 12.63 at the close of today’s trading, and the average buying price also increased from EGP 12.55 to EGP 12.60 at the close of today’s session.
