EGP index Decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.841 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the end of trading on Sunday, January 18, 2026, as the index fell to 39.841 points at today’s close, compared to 39.890 points at the close of last Thursday’s session.
The decline in the pound index was driven by its depreciation against the US dollar, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, while it appreciated against the euro and the British pound by the end of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar increased from EGP 47.33 to EGP 47.42 at today’s close, while the average buying price rose from EGP 47.23 to EGP 47.32.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen also rose from EGP 29.85 to EGP 30.00 at today’s close, and the average buying price increased from EGP 29.78 to EGP 29.92.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan increased from EGP 6.79 to EGP 6.80 at today’s close, while the average buying price rose from EGP 6.77 to EGP 6.79.
Likewise, the average selling price of the UAE dirham rose from EGP 12.88 to EGP 12.91 at today’s close, and the buying price in Egypt increased from EGP 12.85 to EGP 12.88.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal increased from EGP 12.62 to EGP 12.64 at today’s close, and the average buying price also rose from EGP 12.59 to EGP 12.62.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the euro declined from EGP 55.07 to EGP 55.02 at today’s close, and the average buying price fell from EGP 55.95 to EGP 55.88.
The average selling price of the British pound also declined from EGP 63.51 to EGP 63.47 at today’s close, and the average buying price decreased from EGP 63.36 to EGP 63.33 at today’s close.
