EGP index Decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.779 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Monday, January 26, 2026, as the index fell to 39.779 points by the end of the session, compared to 39.828 points at the close of trading on Sunday.
The decline in the pound index was driven by its weakening against the euro, the British pound, the Japanese yen, and the Chinese yuan, while it remained stable against the US dollar, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal at the close of trading.
The average selling price of the euro rose from EGP 55.74 to EGP 55.86 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 55.60 to EGP 55.73.
The average selling price of the British pound increased from EGP 63.31 to EGP 64.37, while the average buying price rose from EGP 63.13 to EGP 64.21 by the close of trading.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen rose from EGP 30.26 to EGP 30.61, and the average buying price increased from EGP 30.19 to EGP 30.55 by the end of today’s session.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan increased from EGP 6.76 to EGP 6.77, while the average buying price rose from EGP 6.75 to EGP 6.76.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the US dollar remained unchanged at EGP 47.11, and the average buying price also stabilized at EGP 47.01 by the close of trading.
Likewise, the average selling price of the UAE dirham remained steady at EGP 12.82, while the buying price in Egypt edged up from EGP 12.79 to EGP 12.80 by the end of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal remained stable at EGP 12.56, and the average buying price also stayed unchanged at EGP 12.53.
