Listed Banks on the Egyptian Exchange Take Half of the Top 10 Seats in Retail Banking Growth

The «First Bank» ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector in retail banking during the first nine months of 2025 revealed that Suez Canal Bank topped the list, after its retail banking portfolio grew by an average of about 64.5% during the first nine months of 2025.

This growth came as the bank’s retail loan portfolio rose to EGP 9.91 bn by the end of September 2025, recording a growth rate of 80.4%, while retail deposits reached EGP 31.39 bn, growing by 48.6% compared with the same period of the previous year.

Kuwait Finance House – Egypt «KFH-Egypt» ranked second, after its retail banking portfolio expanded by an average of about 53.2% during the first nine months of 2025. Its retail financing portfolio grew by 69.7% to reach EGP 8.40 bn by the end of September 2025, while retail deposits recorded EGP 34.98 bn, achieving a growth rate of 36.6% during the same period of the previous year.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» captured the third place, after its retail banking portfolio increased by an average of about 49.9% during the first nine months of 2025. Its retail financing portfolio rose by 56.8% to reach EGP 43.36 bn by the end of September 2025, while retail deposits reached EGP 124.15 bn, growing by 43% compared with the same period of the previous year.

The ranking, which included 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, showed that all banks achieved positive growth rates in their total retail banking portfolios during the first nine months of 2025, according to the standalone financial statements announced by each bank.

The ranking was based on a composite index developed by «First Bank» to measure banks’ growth in retail loans and retail deposits portfolios.

The data also revealed a notable dominance of private sector banks in the leading positions, as private banks captured the top 10 places, with no public banks appearing at the top of the ranking. These banks include: Suez Canal Bank, «KFH-Egypt», «ADIB-Egypt», «EGBANK», «BANK NXT», «Emirates NBD-Egypt», «saib», «Al Baraka Bank-Egypt», «NBK-Egypt», and «FABMISR».

Islamic banks secured 3 positions among the fastest 10 banks, with «KFH-Egypt» ranking second, «ADIB-Egypt» in third place, while «Al Baraka Bank-Egypt» ranked eighth.

The data also showed a strong Arab presence at the top of the ranking, as Gulf banking groups operating in Egypt captured 6 positions among the fastest 10 banks, namely: «KFH-Egypt», «ADIB-Egypt», «Emirates NBD-Egypt», «Al Baraka Bank-Egypt», «NBK-Egypt», and «FABMISR».

Meanwhile, banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange captured half of the top 10 positions, represented by: Suez Canal Bank, «ADIB-Egypt», «EGBANK», «saib», and «Al Baraka Bank-Egypt».
