Foreign banking groups secure 4 positions among the top 10 profit-making banks.
Banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange capture 3 seats among the top ten.
The «First Bank» list of the most profit-making banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first nine months of 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt topped the ranking, with profits reaching about EGP 132.23 bn in the first nine months of last year.
Banque Misr secured the second place, recording net profits of approximately EGP 68.35 bn during the first nine months of 2025.
The Commercial International Bank – Egypt «CIB» claimed third place, with net profits of EGP 62.21 bn in the first nine months of 2025.
The «First Bank» list monitored the net profits of 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data were available during the first nine months of 2025.
The list revealed that private sector banks occupied 6 positions among the top 10 profit-making banks in Egypt, including: «CIB», «QNB – Egypt», «HSBC», «FABMISR», «Arab African International Bank», and «Alex-Bank».
Public sector banks, on the other hand, secured 4 positions among the top ten, namely: National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, Housing and Development Bank, and Banque du Caire.
Regarding foreign banking groups operating in Egypt, they captured 4 positions among the top 10 profit-making banks, represented by: «QNB – Egypt», «HSBC», «FABMISR», and «Alex-Bank».
Banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange claimed 3 positions among the top ten, namely: «CIB», «QNB – Egypt», and Housing and Development Bank.
It is worth noting that all values mentioned in the above analysis are based on the independent financial statements announced by each bank by the end of September 2025.
