EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 35.127 points at today's trading
The Egyptian pound index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Tuesday, May 5th, falling to 35.018 points, compared to 35.127 points at the close of trading on Monday.
The pound's decline was attributed to its depreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the Chinese yuan, the British pound, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, while remaining stable against the Japanese yen.
The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 53.57 to EGP 53.77 at the close of trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 53.47 to EGP 53.67.
Similarly, the average selling price of the euro rose from EGP 62.68 to EGP 62.83, and the average buying price increased from EGP 62.54 to EGP 62.70.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan rose from EGP 7.84 to EGP 7.87 at the close of trading today, while the average buying price increased from EGP 7.83 to EGP 7.86.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen remained stable at EGP 34.09 at the close of trading today, as did the average buying price at EGP 34.01.
The average selling price of the UAE dirham rose from EGP 14.59 to EGP 14.64 at the close of trading today, and the average buying price increased from EGP 14.56 to EGP 14.61.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal rose from EGP 14.28 to EGP 14.33 at the close of trading today, and the average buying price increased from EGP 14.26 to EGP 14.30.
As for the average selling price of the British pound, it rose from 72.56 pounds to 72.78 pounds at the close of trading today, and the average buying price rose from 72.38 pounds to 72.63 pounds at the end of trading today.
