HD Bank, CIB and ABK Egypt are the fastest growing banks in total retail deposits
FirstBank list of the fastest growing banks in retail deposits during the past year revealed that HD Bank topped the list with a growth rate of 21.36%, after its total portfolio increased to EGP27.2 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP22.4 bn at the end of December 2021.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt took second place, after its total retail deposit portfolio increased by 18.41% over the past year, to record EGP 267.9 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 226.2 bn at the end of December 2021.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt came third, after its total retail deposit portfolio increased by a growth rate of 15.85% over the past year, jumping from EGP 14.3 bn at the end of December 2021, to EGP 16.6 bn at the end of December 2022.
QNB Al Ahli came in fourth place, after achieving a growth rate of 15.63% over the past year, bringing its total retail deposit portfolio to EGP144.7 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP125.1 bn at the end of December 2021.
Emirates NBD - Egypt came fifth, with a growth rate of 15% over the past year, after the total retail deposit portfolio increased to EGP26.9 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP23.4 bn at the end of December 2021.
Suez Canal Bank occupied sixth place after it achieved a growth in its total retail deposit portfolio at a rate of 14.29% over the past year, to record EGP 12.8 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 11.2 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by Faisal Bank with a growth rate of 12.13% during 2022.
Banque du Caire came in eighth place with a growth rate of 10.74% over the past year, after its total portfolio of individual deposits recorded EGP 135 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP122 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by the National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt and Ahli United With growth rates of 8.95% and 7.34% during the same period.
It should be noted that all values and growth rates mentioned above are according to separate financial statements announced for each bank at the end of December 2022.
