NBE, Banque Misr, and Banque du Caire Are Egypt’s Top Retail Lending Banks as of June 2025

NBE tops the list of the largest retail lenders, capturing 31.78% of total retail loans in the banking sector as of the end of June 2025, while Banque Misr ranks second with a 12.37% market share.
Banque du Caire secured the third position with a 7.47% share, while CIB and QNB-Egypt ranked fourth and fifth with market shares of 6.66% and 5.85%, respectively.
Meanwhile, ADIB-Egypt and Bank of Alexandria were among the top 10 banks, holding market shares of 2.80% and 2.70%, respectively.
The First Bank ranking of Egypt’s largest banks by retail loan market share as of the end of June 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) topped the list, commanding 31.78% of total retail loans across the banking sector, after its retail loan portfolio reached EGP 404.93 billion by June 2025.
The list covered the retail loan portfolios of 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, based on their independently published financial statements as of June 2025.
Returning to the ranking, Banque Misr secured the second position with a 12.37% market share, after its retail loan portfolio reached EGP 157.61 billion by the end of the period.
Banque du Caire ranked third with a 7.47% market share, supported by a retail loan portfolio totaling EGP 95.24 billion as of June 2025.
The Commercial International Bank (CIB) came in fourth with a 6.66% share and a retail loan portfolio of EGP 84.92 billion by mid-2025.
Qatar National Bank – Egypt (QNB-Egypt) claimed the fifth position with a 5.85% market share, as its retail loan portfolio reached approximately EGP 74.53 billion during the same period.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) ranked sixth with a 2.80% share, after its retail loan portfolio surged to EGP 35.63 billion as of June 2025.
Bank of Alexandria secured seventh place with a 2.70% market share and a retail loan portfolio of EGP 34.44 billion.
Housing and Development Bank (HDB) ranked eighth, holding a 2.32% share with a retail loan portfolio amounting to EGP 29.59 billion as of June 2025.
Arab African International Bank (AAIB) ranked ninth with a 2.22% market share, after its retail loan portfolio reached EGP 28.32 billion.
Completing the top 10, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) captured a 2.10% market share, supported by a retail loan portfolio of EGP 26.72 billion by mid-2025.
It is worth noting that all values and market shares mentioned above are based on the independently audited financial statements of each bank as of the end of June 2025.
