Net profits of 3 listed banks declined during 2025
The «First Bank» list of the fastest-growing banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange in terms of net profit growth during 2025 revealed that the Egyptian Gulf Bank «EGBANK» ranked first with a growth rate of 60.2%, after recording net profits of EGP 4.09 billion in 2025, compared to EGP 2.55 billion in 2024.
«Housing & Development Bank» came in second place, as its net profits increased by approximately 55.9% during the past year, reaching EGP 17.21 billion in 2025, compared to EGP 11.04 billion in 2024.
The list, which included 11 banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange out of 12 banks for which the necessary financial data were available, showed that 8 banks achieved positive growth rates in their net profits during 2025, while 3 banks recorded a noticeable decline in their net profits during the same year.
The list also revealed clear dominance by the private sector, as private banks secured 4 positions among the top 5 fastest-growing banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange: «EGBANK», «CIB», «ADIB-Egypt», and «Al Baraka», while the only public-sector seat went to «Housing & Development Bank».
Regarding Gulf banking groups operating in Egypt, two banks succeeded in capturing two positions among the top 5 fastest-growing listed banks: «ADIB Egypt» and «Al Baraka», thereby strengthening their presence not only as subsidiaries of Gulf banking groups, but also as the only two Islamic banks to appear among the top five.
On the other hand, the data showed that 3 listed banks recorded a noticeable decline in their net profits during 2025: «Crédit Agricole», «saib», and «Faisal Islamic Bank».
It is worth noting that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are based on the standalone financial statements announced by each bank as of the end of 2025.
