Egypt's Domestic Liquidity Grows By 25.7%, Recording EGP 7.3 tn By November-22end

the Central Bank of Egypt revealed, on its website, an increase in domestic liquidity in the banking sector during the first 11 months of 2022 at a rate of 25.66%, to record EGP7.317 tn at the end of November 2022, compared to EGP5.823 tn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP1.494 tn.

The monthly statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt indicated that the money supply (M1) increased by 22.63% during the period from January to November 2022, to move from EGP1.382 tn at the end of December 2021, and reach EGP1.695 tn at the end of November 2022, an increase of EGP312.8 bn.

Currency in circulation outside the banking sector increased by a growth rate of 15.57%, to record EGP811.2 bn at the end of November 2022, compared to EGP701.9 bn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP109.3 bn.

Current deposits in local currency jumped to EGP883.9 bn at the end of November 2022, compared to EGP680.5 bn at the end of December 2021, with a growth rate of 29.9%, and an increase of EGP203.5 bn.

Near money rose at a growth rate of 26.61% during the period from January to November 2022, to record EGP 5.622 tn last November, compared to EGP 4.440 tn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP 1.182 bn.

Non-current deposits in local currency jumped at a growth rate of 17.71%, to record EGP 4.461 tn at the end of November 2022, compared to EGP 3.789 tn at the end of December 2021, an increase of about EGP 671.1 bn.

Current deposits in foreign currency jumped by 99% during the first 11 months of last year, after moving from EGP157.2 bn pounds at the end of December 2021, to EGP312.7 bn at the end of November 2022, an increase of EGP155.6 bn.

Non-current deposits in foreign currency increased during the first 11 months of last year at a rate of 71.89%, to record EGP848.6 bn at the end of November 2022, compared to EGP493.7 bn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP355 bn.
