Janet Yellen, First US Economy Female leader
Today, we discuss one of the most prominent bankers in Egypt and the world in modern history, her journey and most prominent achievements; Janet Yellen, the first woman to lead the American economy.
Yellen is an American economist who managed to write her name in the pages of American history when she was chosen by U.S. Senate on January 6, 2014, to be the first woman to lead Federal Reserve Board in its history.
She was born in Brooklyn on August 13, 1946, at the beginning of the post-war period. She graduated as an economist from Brown University, then studied at Yale University, where she got her Ph.D. in 1971
Yellen studied at Harvard University during 1971-1976, in parallel with her work as an expert at US Federal Reserve, and she also worked as a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the US Federal Reserve, and worked as an economic advisor to President Bill Clinton between 1997 and 1999.
During 2004-2010, she was appointed CEO of US Federal Reserve branch in San Francisco, then Vice chairman of the Bank, Ben S Bernanke, from 2010 until the end of January 2014, to come in early February of the same year at head of Federal Authority recommended by President Barack Obama.
During her career, Yellen won many awards, including the Wilbur Cross Medal from Yale University in 1997, an honorary degree from Brown University in 1998, and an honorary degree from Bard College in 2000.
