Attijariwafa bank's Deposit portfolio jumps by 39.38% during 2022

Attijariwafa bank's business results revealed a remarkable growth in its deposit portfolio over the past year, as its portfolio jumped by 39.38%, to record EGP 52.51 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP 37.67 bn at the end of 2021.

The bank’s succeeded in adding EGP 14.84 bn to its deposit portfolio over the past year, that was reflected in an increase in its market share to 0.61% of total banking sector deposits by the end of 2022, compared to 0.58% by the end of 2021.

The bank’s deposit portfolio in local currency witnessed a remarkable development over the past year, as it jumped 28.16%, to record EGP39.82 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP31.07 bn at the end of 2021.

EGP acquired the largest share of the bank’s deposits, as its share reached 75.82% by the end of 2022.

The increase of the bank's deposit portfolio reached EGP8.75bn on an annual basis, reflected in a slight increase in its share in this market to 0.56% of the bank’s total deposits in local currency by the end of 2022, compared to 0.55% by the end of 2021.

Attijariwafa bank's deposit portfolio in foreign currencies increased by 92.14%, to reach EGP 12.7bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP6.61 bn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP6.09 bn

Moreover, deposits in foreign currencies acquired 24.18% of the bank's total deposits by the end of 2022.

The increases in deposit portfolio in foreign currencies contributed to increasing its share in this market to 0.84% ​​of the total deposits of the banking sector in foreign currencies by the end of 2022, compared to 0.82% by the end of 2021

The bank’s deposits in US dollars were the fastest growing during the past year, as they jumped 102.21%, to reach EGP 10.61 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP5.25 bn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP5.36 bn, constituting 20.21% of the bank’s total deposits.

As for bank deposits in Euro, increased by 51.79%, to reach EGP1.75 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP1.15 bn by the end of 2021, an increase of EGP 595.6 mn.

Attijariwafa's deposits in Euro acquired 3.32% of the bank's total deposits by the end of 2022.

In terms of bank deposits in pound sterling, increased by 43.52%, to reach EGP286.7 mn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP199.76 mn by the end of 2021.

Pound sterling acquired a very small share of the bank’s total deposits, 0.55% of the bank’s total deposits by the end of 2022.

While the bank’s deposits in other currencies increased by 441.46%, to reach EGP50.13 mn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP9.26 mn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP40.88 mn, 0.10% of the bank’s total deposits.

It should be noted that the bank’s deposits to corporates witnessed remarkable increases over the past year, as they jumped by 78.33%, until they reached EGP30.54 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP17.12 bn by the end of 2021, an increase of EGP 13.41 bn.

The individual deposits portfolio increased from EGP20.55 bn at the end of 2021 to EGP21.97 bn at the end of 2022, an increase of EGP1.42 bn.
