CBE: Banks' assets grow by 21.04%, reaching EGP13.8 tn by H1- 2023 end

According to the latest monthly statistical bulletin issued by the Central Bank of Egypt. Bank assets mark an increase from EGP11.399 tn at the end of 2022.
Investments in t-bonds rose by 9.66% to EGP 4.855 tn, and lending balances increased to EGP4.798 tn, growing by 17.23%. Banks' capital increased by 6.85% to EGP323.776 bn, and reserves reached EGP492.386 bn by the end of the first half of 2023.
Long-term bonds and loans in banks amounted to EGP541.945 bn, showing a 15.97% increase.
Domestic bank balances reached EGP 2.326 tn, indicating a growth of 22.04%, while foreign bank balances stood at EGP308.623 bn by the end of the second quarter of 2023, compared to EGP 329.735 bn in 2022.
